History made by the Indian team and probably one of the best Test Series win. aren't they?

Initially, there are 21 Indians on the tour, Consists of 17 players and 4 net bowlers. 

No Ishant right away from beginning

No Rohit Sharma for the first 2 tests

Virat Kohli has withdrawn for 2,3 and 4th Tests

Shami injured in 1st Test

Umesh Yadav injured in 2nd Test

Jadeja, Vihari, Ashwin, Bumrah injured in the 3rd Test

Navdeep Saini injured in the 4th Test.

Still, India managed to win the series with their young players. Probably seen a new young Indian Team with more discipline under the captaincy of Rahane. Every Indian player played like they have experience of 10-20 tests and all are contributed equally for Test win at Gabba.

India has bowled beautifully in 1st innings in 2nd Test and got Australia all out for 195. When all eyes on the Indian Batting lineup and how they can bounce back from 36. Then, Ajinkya Rahane came to the rescue for the team and scored his 1st International Century as captain. It means a lot to him after India's performance at Adelaide.

Debutants Siraj and Gill have shown a lot of character in the 2nd Test where Gill scored 80 runs and Siraj has taken 5 wickets on debut. India won the test and bounce back into the series 1-1.

India going to the 3rd Test with a positive sign and Mayank was replaced by Rohit Sharma. But India has a tough time in this test. Steve Smith has a poor series until the 3rd test scoring 10 runs in 4 innings and Smith is yet to score a run against Ashwin in the series. Coming home, Smith has a successful run at Sydney. Australia crossed 300 plus in both the innings as Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschange scoring 131,81 and 91,73 between them.

Stat: No Team has scored 300+ runs in both innings against India in the last 6 years. The last time Australia scoring 300+ runs in both innings is in Boxing Day Test 2014. AUS scored 530 & 318-9/d.

While Rohit and Gill put on the first 50 partnership of the Series and Gill scored his maiden Intl Half-Century in the innings. Finally, India put 244 in 1st innings. Indian Bowlers struggled in the 2nd innings with dropped catches and misfield, AUS declared for 312-6. 

Stat: Indian innings contain three run-outs in the innings it is the 110 years old record.

India needs to chase the huge target of 407 runs. At the end of Day 4, India was 98-2 and need 309 runs on the final day to win the Test Match. They lost Rahane at the start of the day and Rishabh Pant and Pujara added 148 run partnership for 4th wicket. The Pant knock of 97 is very special, at a moment India was in a position that could easily chase and won the Test Match. Soon, India lost Pujara who was looking good and scored 77. 

The equation was like India needs 135 runs in 42.4 overs and Australia needs 5 wickets. It's a 50-50 chance. India managed to draw the test and Ashwin-Vihari put on 62 run stands in 256 balls. This partnership was so special was Vihari has Ham-String and couldn't able to run, Ashwin has a back injury from day 4, still, both fought to their potential to draw the game. Everyone motivated by the fighting spirit of Team India.

Probably, best knock of Ashwin in the last 4 years.

India doesn't have a lot of players before going to Gabba. They've lost Ashwin, Jadeja, Bumrah, Vihari. The inexperienced players Sundar, Natarajan, Sundar are into the playing XI with Siraj as leader of the Attack.

Stats:

Siraj, Thakur, Natarajan, Saini has 13 wickets experience between them and Australian bowlers with more than 1000 wickets experience between them. Some more stats to consider

Australia never lost at Gabba since 1988.

Australia never lost a series from 1990's(not exact) after winning 1st Test.

Australia posted a huge total of 369/10 and Labuschagne passed his luck and scored a century. Debutants Sundar, Thakur, and Natarajan has taken all the wickets in 1st innings and has taken 3 wickets each.

Soon, India lost early wickets and fall back in the chase and Debutants posted a 123 run stand that impressed everyone. When India under pressure and trail by 208 runs, they posted crucial partnership against strong Australian attack.

Stat: Not to forget, Sundar played his last FC match back in 2018. 

Shradul and Sundar both filled the shoes of Jadeja and Ashwin.

Siraj got his maiden 5-fer in the second innings and it was his emotional journey and his dream come true. India needs to chase 328 in the final innings. The chase was not easy as it looks, the cracks opened in day4 and Australian batsman find difficult to face Indian Bowling attack.

Shubman Gill 91 in the chase shows his calmness, composure, and brilliance in his batting. He's smashed Starc for 6,4,4 in one over and his pull shot is something to mention. One of the main reasons, India succeeded in the chase because of Pujara, he stood like a wall and released the pressure of batsmen at the other end and frustrated Australian bowlers.

Stats at Brisbane:

India scored 20 off Starc over and it was the most expensive over bowled by Starc in Test Cricket.

Pujara scored fifty of 196 balls also it was the slowest 50 in his career

Pant came to the rescue on the final day similar to the Sydney test and scored a match-winning knock of 89*(138). Every India contributed to the success of winning the series.

Finally, India ended the 31 years winning streak of Australia.

It's very proud that from 36 all out to the series win. Indian is under pressure after 36 all out and the players got injured one by one. India fought till their potential to draw the third test. Playing with the debutants  in 4th Test and retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. 

One more highlight from the series is Ajinkya Rahane's captaincy. All can understand the pressure of Rahane after that 1st test. He remained calm and scored Century in the 2nd test which will remain as one of the greatest centuries in the History of cricket. One of the main traits of his captaincy is bringing in spinners at the correct time to dismiss Australia batsman.

It's great that Indian management and coach Ravi Shastri backed Net players in the team and after all the injuries they sidelined into the team and performed well for the country.

Mohammad Siraj on his debut series, Stayed back in Australia, abused by the crowd, stayed calm and become the leader of pace attack in the final test, and emerged as leading wicket-taker for India in this series. His Dream come true and inspiration for all.
