Mumbai Indians, four time champions in IPL in 2013,2015,2017,2019.

Considering the current form of MI players, I think it is impossible to beat them with any team. The World's best bowlers, Best Batsman, Best All-Rounders are mixed in this team. Mumbai after handing the captaincy to Rohit Sharma has never looked back. Except for the year 2014, when Mumbai entered playoffs that year, they won that year's title.

But when we looked at the stats over the years to find who has been consistently performing for Mumbai Indians in the playoffs. You will be surprised after looking at all these stats.

Mumbai Indians batting stats in playoff's(considering only current MI players):

  Matches Runs Avg SR 4/6
K Pollard 15 332 25.53 187.57 22/25
R Sharma 14 198 14.14 105.49 18/5
K Pandya 5 114 28.50 131.03 11/2
SK Yadav 2 86 86.00 121.12 11/0
H Pandya 6 54 9.00 122.72 3/3
I Kishan 2 51 25.50 89.4 4/1

Pollard is the Hero of Mumbai Indians. He joined Mumbai in 2010. They have a great season in 2010 and pollard finishing skills helped MI to seal the win against RCB in SF1 scoring 33*(13). He also scored 27*(10) vs CSK in the final but they short of 22 runs. (We all remember that dismissal. Dhoni mastermind and Hayden's catch)

His knock of 60*(32) in the final of 2013 taken the game away from CSK. One of the best Knocks in his Career.

Another one to remember is 41*(25) in IPL 2019 finals, Similar to 2013, Pollard has taken the game despite falling wickets at another end.

He has scored more sixes in playoffs for MI. His contribution to MI in playoffs helped a lot to clinch the titles.

Rohit Sharma is one of the great players in this format. But he has poor outings in playoffs(only batting performances). Rohit Sharma joined MI in 2011. Since 2011, Rohit has not contributed with the bat so far. He has scored only one fifty in playoffs. That one came in IPL 2015 finals after the early loss of Parthiv Patel. His scores of 50(26) include 6 fours and 2 sixes.

There are no remarkable performances and his Strike rate is also under 110. His knocks every year.

Despite the pressure from the batting end, Rohit never lost his confidence. He always stays calm. He helped Mumbai Indians with his great Captaincy, field settings, bowling changes, and crucial decisions. Mumbai Indians defended scored 129 runs in 2017 and 150 in 2019. We all know how difficult it is to defend such low totals against the likes of RPS and CSK.

Take a bow, Rohit Sharma

I think Rohit Sharma is fit and ready to go against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier1. We all waiting for one big knock in the 2020 playoffs and ready to question the Indian selection committee.

"Why he was out of National team when he is fit?"

Krunal Pandya has a great record in playoffs. He scored 114 runs striking at 131.03. His knock of 47(38) helped Mumbai Indians to post 128-5.

Coming to Bowling, one player to watch out for is Jasprit Bumrah. He averages 13 in IPL Playoffs.

Bumrah in playoffs:
Matches: 5
Wickets: 8
Avg: 13.875

His spell of 3-0-7-3 in Qualifer2 vs KKR is one of the greatest spells in his career. What's your favorite spell of Bumrah in playoffs?

Lasith Malinga missed the season due to personal reasons, but MI has no problem. MI is going to play first playoffs match without Lasith Malinga. Trent Boult is outstanding with the ball this season.

I think he is perfect replacement for Malinga this season. In IPL 2020,

  Matches Wickets Avg SR Eco
T Boult 13 20 20.90 20.90 8.14

DC also outstanding this season and has great young players and this battle is going to be a great fight tonight. One good point is that Ashwin has edge over MI Batsman

Ashwin vs

Rohit: 97(83), 1 dismissal
Pollard: 72(44), 4 dismissal
De Cock: 61(50), 3 dismissal

Head to Head:
MI: 14
DC: 12

Highest Total chased:
MI: 162
DC: 194

Lowest Total defended:
MI: 142
DC: 164

In the end, MI is the team where all players contribute to their win. We seen that o
