When India visited Australia back in 2018, India denied playing day-night test in Australia and India finally played their first day-night test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens and successfully won the match by innings and 46 runs.
In 2020, India accepted Australia's wish to play day-night test at Adelaide. Stats before the test be like
Australia: Australia never lost a D/N Test match and won their 7 D/N Test matches.
India: India played and won their only D/N Test match.
After the toss, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Stats saying that Virat Kohli has never lost the Test match after winning the toss
Toss: 21 Won, 4 Draw
After a lot of debate over the opening pair, Ravi Shastri compared Shaw with three legends Tendulkar, Sehwag, and Lara and soon Virat went for Shaw over Gill as his opener.
Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi shaw doesn't make a great opening pair as the pair scored 0 and 7 in both the innings. Shaw was not able to contribute with the bat scoring 0 and 4 in both innings. He also faced a lot of criticism as he selected over Gill.
Agarwal, the highest run-scorer for India in WTC also not able to contribute. His scores in both innings are 17 and 9. He has been playing late throughout and it's quite dangerous in these conditions. It's the way he has been out in both innings.
Australia was in the plan to bowl leg wicket to Pujara as he has been dismissed the way in practice matches. But, Pujara was too good in 1st innings. He has taken a lot of time to find his rhythm back and score 43 in 1st innings. Rahane and Kohli were in good touch and added 88 runs for the 4th wicket. I think this was the turning point of the entire test match. Rahane after pushing the ball to long-off called for a run and after Kohli came halfway he said no, yes, no. There was a complete misunderstanding between the two and Kohli gone for 74. Rahane after apologizing still in that mood and threw his wicket away.
There are no performances to talk about and India all out for 244 in 1st innings.
Indian bowlers showed great intent in 1st innings. Bumrah and Umesh bowled very tight spells at the start and Bumrah has dismissed Wade and Burns in his 6 and 7th overs. Soon, Virat introduced Ashwin to break Smith - Labuschagne pair. According to captain Instruction, he dismissed Smith. Smith was waiting for the ball to turn and Ashwin surprised him by bowling straight and that's great by Ashwin.
Labuschagne driving on his luck for some time as he dropped twice by Bumrah and Shaw. On the other side, Ashwin sending everyone to the pavilion until Umesh called for his second spell. Umesh has removed Labuschagne and Cummins in one over and rewarded for his tight spells.
Tim Paine 73 helped Australia to post 191.
India doesn't want the start they had in 2nd innings. India went on and registered their lowest ever score in Test Cricket in an innings(36-9).
There is no intent shown by any of the batsmen, Pujara who has a weakness when the ball comes towards off- stump was gone in the same way and nicked it into the hands of Tim Paine. And Australian targeted Kohli and Rahane by bowling full and in the plan to allow Batsman to drive so that they can nick one into hands of fielders.
Saha failed in both the innings and scored only 9 and 4 in both the innings. Saha is a very good WK but there are no impressive performances with the bat in overseas Test Matches. It's interesting to see whom India goes to within the 2nd test.
Shami was hit by a bouncer off Pat Cummins and India finished the innings with 36-9.
Update: Shami ruled out of the Australian series due to hand fracture
Australia needs to score 90 runs and they scored the target within 21 overs and Won the 1st Test match.
Australia in the lead 1-0.

As Virat Kohli was unavailable for the final three tests, it's difficult to fill the place of Virat But India needs to look after Subhuman Gill and KL Rahul. It's Rahane choice whether he wants to go with Shaw or KL Rahul. Hanuma Vihari likely bat up the order as he has a good run at No.4 in practice matches and Gill to play at No.6

Rohit Sharma also available for 3rd test and it's a positive sign for India. It's become really difficult for India to fill the Virat position. Pujara, Rahane, and Vihari are the most experienced batsman and they need to step up to bring back India in the series.
