It's hard to see an Indian Batsman doesn't deserve a place in Indian Team after scoring Triple Ton for our Nation. Karun Nair is the second Indian Batsnman who scored Triple Century after Virender Sehwag. Many people criticized Indian selectors for not selecting him in the Indian squad.
Karun Nair scored 303* vs England in 2016 in his debut Series. After the knock, everyone considered him as one of the best Test Players. But he didn’t prove himself after the knock. After the successful series, Nair played in Border Gavaskar Trophy vs Australia. In this series, he managed to score only 54 runs at an average of 13.50. After a poor series, he was dropped.
It was the correct decision to drop one player based on one odd series?
Karun Nair said in the Interview. He was popular and said he didn't want to prove to anyone what he can do. As he already proved what he can do before by scoring that triple hundred against England. He recalls the Australian tour, he said going to a good start and failing in 4 innings. It is common for any player and the only he can do is get back to Domestic Cricket and wants to perform well to earn a national call again. It's all about the pressure after the knock he encountered, the only series he played in the Australian Series and he didn't represent India after that. So, it is the past and he wants to perform well in the upcoming fixtures.
Coming to IPL, he was bought by Kings XI Punjab in 2018 and become a complete middle-order batsman.
After dropping from the Team, Karun Nair played in Ranji Trophy 2017–2018. He scored 612 runs from seven games at an average of 68. His century in Semi-final against Vidarbha helped Karnataka to tie. Since after then, he wasn't able to score a century.
It's been a 622-day wait for Nair for a first-class ton. His last century came against Vidarbha in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy semifinal vs Vidarbha. Recently, he scored his century in Duleep Trophy. Coming to the conclusion, Karun Nair is a very good player and averaging over 48 in First-Class cricket. But he needs to perform more than the current Indian Middle-order to earn a call.
He believes he needs to focus more on his batting than everyone else and figure out the problem about the lack of runs. It can be double sessions or batting the whole day. Because, when he waste the time at this age, it cannot be back and I need to practice all the time. Hopefully, after that century in Duleep Trophy, he believes he can put more performances.
